Times, they say, are a-changin'

I thought that all was lost when I screwed up my old Blogger account by switching to Blogger beta but then I remembered my ENDS 170 account and my plans were given new life. I knew ENDS 170 must have served some useful purpose and was not merely an outlet for graduate-level egotism and undergraduate brown-nosing (and I say that now with full conviction, vindictiveness, and minimal fear of ramification because I'm not an ENDS major anymore, so suck on that)! You can still see my old blog (tacky layout and all) by clicking on the link in the right-hand column.

I made garlic-herb biscuits today because I needed to get rid of 3/4 of a tub of low-fat yogurt whose cultures were just curdling their lives away in the back of my fridge. Anyway the biscuits made the whole downstairs smell absolutely herb-olicious and you'd never know that they were low-calorie if I hadn't just told you. As God as my witness I will never again bake with oil and butter! The dietary possibilities presented by live bacteria colonies are just too great to ignore. The best part of the whole culinary escapade was that I pretty much made up the recipe all by myself. My next endeavor - breakfast biscuits made with fruit flavored Weight Watchers yogurt and whole-wheat flour in an attempt to drive the Points value down even lower.

I used to be a VH1 junkie but now I only watch it when nothing else is on because I think that it's mostly just endless rehashing of celebrity gossip and I get my fix of that every morning on MSN with a smattering of glitzy writing and none of the glib Z-list commentators. Well, nothing else is EVER on at 2 in the morning (except for the occasional Full House marathon, and, against my better judgment, I can't help but enjoy that) and that's when VH1 gets back to what it's good at - playing music videos - so I rather enjoy it. Last week, or perhaps it was the week before, I can't be sure because I try to forget every day that I waste this semester, they played a music video by "up and coming You Oughta Know" artist Regina Spektor. The music video was really neat - Regina Spektor was wearing black and white and playing the piano in a black and white room and it was aesthetically very pleasing until the end when Regina Spektor and her mannequin-cum-boyfriend started splashing color everywhere - but Scot and I thought the song left a lot to be desired. A few of nights ago (we'll say Tuesday) I turned VH1 on again because I was bored and wanted to see the Chasing Cars video and as soon as I got comfortable VH1 announced that they'd be playing a "You Outta Know" video and I got excited because Snow Patrol is a "You Outta Know" band but then Regina Spektor's Fidelity came on and I listened patiently because I recognized the song and then I found myself enjoying the song. After it was over I turned the volume down on my TV (in the nick of time too because the next video they played was Lips of an Angel by Hinder and that song makes my intestines rot) and listened to Regina Spektor's whole CD on her website until Chasing Cars came on. I got Fidelity from my brother today but I kept getting upset when the song that came on after Fidelity ended was not the next song on Regina Spektor's CD so I gave up on iTunes and continued streaming her CD from her website. Luckily I'm getting the CD for my anniversary so I'll be able to listen to music the way normal people do.

I got a really noticeable farmer's tan at the football game on Saturday. Not only do I now sport a permanent wife-beater, but we lost the effing game by one point. It's like, "Hey Sarah, did y'all win the game this weekend?" "...no, but check out the rockin' derma-duds I got while I was there!". Yeah, right. Of course, I can pretty much look past all of that thanks to KSU...they've been under the leadership of their head coach for a good, long 11 games and they upset the team that we've been dying to beat under the pansied guidance of the same lame coach for the past 4 years. My hat is off to KSU.

This has been a nice sizeable maiden post for this new blog so if you've made it this far then I offer my congratulations. There's more to come, you can be sure.
