For the first time in my college career I actually got the exact schedule that I planned. I'm so excited that I've already shared all of the banal details of registration with two people, and now I'm going to share them with the entire blog-o-sphere.
My registration time was 8:30, so I set my alarm for 8:00 thinking that I'd get up and check class availabilities and rearrange my schedule if necessary. For some reason though, I kept hitting the snooze button and before I knew it, it was 8:35. I lept out of bed and frantically logged in and the first class I went after (and I really can't explain this) was Oceanography. I got into that class and the lab with no difficulty (I didn't really expect any) and then I shot to the English courses. The English department is a little fishy - they seem to never have enough spots available in any of the required classes, so I was just sure I'd have to force into both of the ones that I wanted. The first class I tried for was Rhetoric of Style, which had seven open seats when I checked last night. This morning there were five seats left so I happily snapped one up and scampered over to Life and Literature of the American South. I honestly thought LALOTAS was a lost cause because there were only three available seats last night, but I figured I'd check just in case. And folks, this was one of those rare moments where being manically obsessive came in really handy - "Seats: 30; Available: 1; Enroll in Course?" I gasped audibly, pounded on my mouse, hesitated momentarily when I was asked if I wanted to confirm my enrollment because I didn't expect the question (um, heck yes!), and then I smacked the "Enter" key like I thought it might fly away.
The only two classes that I had left to pick where in no danger of filling up, so I calmly enrolled in both of them, and then I stared at my schedule in utter disbelief. I have no classes before 11, I'm done by 1:30 every MWF, by 3:35 on Thursdays, and by 6:00 (ho hum, Oceanography Lab) on Tuesdays. Annnnd I'm only taking one class that scares me (marked with an asterik below)!
Since I can't share my enviable course load with the world of Facebook for another month or so, I'm going to share its radiance with all of my readers. Enjoy the advanced screening, friends.
