Talk your ear off

I spent pretty much all of last week on a whirlwind tour of Texas, so I've been terribly neglectful of the ol' blog (sorry, blog). On Saturday (5/30) my brother and I drove down to College Station to move him into my old apartment. We spent a large part of the day watching a rerun of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which was absolutely enthralling--I literally did not move from my seat for at least two hours. On Sunday my parents picked me up from Trey's apartment and the three of us went to Houston to move my grandma's cousin into a new apartment. And, dear readers, I was without Internet from the time we arrived until we left for Galveston on Wednesday! On Thursday we returned to College Station just in time to have lunch with beau and brother. My whole family and I made Sean believe that I'd be returning to Dallas with my parents immediately following lunch, but I ended up staying in College Station and surprising Sean when he got off of work. Beau, brother, and I hung out on Thursday and Friday and Trey and I capped off the stay on Friday evening with an hilarious improvised musical number about getting ready for bed. On Saturday (6/6) Sean, Trey, and I met my parents in Waco for my cousin's graduation and then my parents FINALLY dragged me home. Whew.

Now that I'm getting settled into my parents' house, and I've discovered the following things:

- Cinnamon Bun and Raspberry Cheesecake Yoplait fat-free yogurts. Why did I have to visit a Wal-Mart in Dallas to find these super exotic flavors? What's with College Station and their Banana Cream Pie and Blueberry Patch? White Chocolate Strawberry and Key Lime Pie are great, but sometimes you need a little Apple Turnover and Boston Cream Pie. Am I right? You know I am.

- The glory of books. I loved to read when I was wee and blithe, but I never read in College Station because there always seemed to be something else to do. HOWEVER! On Sunday I finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy after a mere four days (for the love of all that is holy, read it!) and I intend to read Anthem, 1984, and another Margaret Atwood tome before the month is out.

- My cat is a dog. She comes when I call, she sleeps on my bed, and the only time she allows me to be in a separate room is when I'm out or she's napping. But perhaps this has less to do with being a dog and more to do with her debilitating attachment issues.

- How much I appreciate College Station. When I was living there I was sort of indifferent to it, but when I visit now I hate to leave. It was so bad this past Saturday that I bought a t-shirt that I absolutely did not need JUST BECAUSE "Aggieland" and "home" were used in the same sentence on the back of it. I darn near shed a tear. Talk about attachment issues.
