My mom, my brother, and I were all in the car yesterday and my brother was speaking advanced science so my mom and I were very confused. The subject was quickly changed to something that non-future electrical engineers could comprehend - the book that my brother has to read for his U.S. History class. My mom mentioned that the book is supposed to be fact-based and my brother was pleased because he hates pure fiction books. Then my brother had to gall to say, "I don't know why anyone would want to major in something that doesn't actually exist" to which I replied, "My major does too exist!" and then Trey said, "Yeah, but at least you want to be a journalist. Journalists write about things that actually exist. Creative writing is a stupid thing to study though" and then I shrieked, "I'm on the creative writing track!!!" It'll take an industrial sized pair of pliers to get his foot out of his mouth when I'm raking in the royalties from my bestseller. Ok, whatever, it was still mean.
I have a really, let's say "questionable", habit of finding something that I really like and clinging to it until all of its appeal has been rung out and collected in a puddle on the floor. At this very second that thing is Let Love In by the Goo Goo Dolls. It's been on repeat since I downloaded it at 11:00. This morning it was Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol (of course, I've been squeezing the appeal out of that song since this past summer. It was drenched, apparently.). I'd like to get to work on The Princess Bride as well but it's so much easier to put a song on repeat than it is to watch a movie over and over and give it due attention.
I need to do Christmas shopping and Christmas wrapping! Now that the wrapping reigns have been turned over to me my poor family is going to have to tear into little works of art on Christmas morning. Seriously, I'm all about coordinating paper with bows. I may not be a design major anymore but I still think a shiny red box looks lovely topped with a big gold bow. Appealing color combinations are no longer expected but I guess my labels better be pretty damned eloquent.
