Christmas baking and I do not get along. Actually, that's not entirely correct, what I should say is that Christmas baking and my diet do not get along. You see, Christmas baking and I are chums, we get along swimmingly. If I'm left alone in a room with Christmas baking for more than 30 minutes we become very well aquainted. Therein lies the problem - you see, my diet really can't handle my unhealthy relationship with Christmas baking.
- I was supposed to end up with three dozen snickerdoodles but somehow there are only 32 cooling on the rack. The two clods of dough that I tasted and the two finished cookies that I tested may account for the discrepancy.
- I wasn't sure how I felt about my one Point "Oreo/Cream Cheese Balls" so I packed in about 6 of them before I decided that they really weren't very good.
- I took two generous bites out of my sugar cookie dough before I was certain that the butter I'd used was freezer burnt.
And that's why Christmas baking and Weight Watchers never got friendly.
In the spirit of rotten luck - I got an e-mail today from some Dean from the College of Liberal Arts chastising me (albeit, mildly) for getting an "incomplete" in my studio class. As far as the College of Lib. Arts is concerned an incomplete is essentially an "F", so I'm on record as having a GPA below a 2.0 for the semester. I'm still in "good standing" or whatever the hell but I'm supposed to meet with an advisor "soon" if I'm in need of "assistance". I'm three hours away from the Undergraduate Student Services office and I'm also not an idiot, so no, I don't think I'll require any assistance. If I hadn't had to go home the weekend before the final was due to see my dad in ICU I would have probably gotten an A because I had come up with some platinum BS to sell my design to my prof. I'm technically not mad at anyone because the college doesn't have a clue why I got an incomplete, it's not like I could have done anything differently, and I'm turning the damn final in when I go back for the spring semester anyway, but I don't fail classes. Ever. So, College of Liberal Arts, please do not suggest that I did. Thanks!
Of course, all of this is really moot because...my dad is coming home! Ok, not permanently but his doctor granted him a 4 hour leave that he can use on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. We are all so thrilled! Especially the dog who has been beside herself ever since my dad (who happens to be her best friend) was whisked away 3 weeks ago. I'd orginally intended to brag on my dad for a couple more paragraphs (at least) but I'm too tired to word it correctly right now, but you can be sure I'll bring it up again soon.
A couple of quickies before I pass out:
- I finally watched The Devil Wears Prada and I thought that it was adorable.
- My birthday was SUPER! (more on that later too)
- I'm nearly done with all of my Christmas shopping! My mom will have presents and a bounteous stocking afterall!
