'Tis the season

My family is obsessed with the show Good Eats on the Food Network, we have at least 10 episodes TiVoed at any given time. Nothing brings our family together like Alton Brown's quirky quips and cooking tips (and I personally live for his little bouts of alliteration). Anyway, last year he did a special Christmas episode and my family tried his eggnog recipe on Christmas Eve. It was disgusting. I had to hold my nose to get it all down. Needless to say, I gagged this year when Scot told me that his family fights over the eggnog during the holidays. Still, I told him I'd try some if he bought it because the eggnog that my family made had rum in it and perhaps that skewed my opinion. Unfortunately for me, Scot bought some eggnog and I tasted it and it was fantastic! And I say "unfortunately" because all eggnog is is liquified cardiac arrest. One cup of the stuff would put me over my Points allowance for a whole month. But I found hope (and a smaller pants size) on hungry-girl.com in the form of soy eggnog. It's fabulous and even my nog-obsessed boyfriend approves, so Merry Christmas!

I hate that the Food Network is running all of these Christmas specials from their day-time lineup at night when they are supposed to run good shows like Good Eats, Food Network Challenge, and Unwrapped. Paula's Southern Christmas? A Barefoot Contessa Holiday? Yuck! There's more than one reason that I'm looking forward to being in class during the afternoon rather than at night next semester...

I need to study for two finals (and I'm putting it off, can't you tell?) so I've been doing a bit of online window-shopping and I found the most adorable pair of red flats at Target. Good thing my birthday is just around the corner, eh? I'll put on my red flats, cut my nails short and paint them black, stick a pretty new headband in my hair and spend the holidays scrapbooking, watching Grey's Anatomy DVDs, and looking out at the Dallas skyline from the suite that the hospital was obligated to give my dad since all of the other rehab rooms were occupied. It will be very dramatic and en vogue, or something.
