How to survive a Monday

Before I left home for another fun-filled semester I went to Costco and bought a huge box of "soy crisps", which are kind of like tiny rice cakes except, you know, made from soy. The three flavors in the box are coffee, pretzel, and cookie dough and they are heaven.

My Spanish class made me want to crawl under a desk and rot today, but at least the homework is ridiculously easy. You want me to tell you the difference between "les gusta" and "le gustan"? For a grade? Seriously? However! I did find myself shocked and saddened by the brevity of both my linguistics and sociology classes today. Coincidentally, those are the only two humongous lecture classes that I'm in and the only classes in which I have friends (or at least mild acquaintances). I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

As I was walking to the bookstore today I happened to run into my hospital valet "friend" from Christmas break. We exchanged hellos and then he brought up some obscure event that made absolutely no sense to me so I figured he recognized me but wasn't sure where he knew me from. This was understandable given that I was wearing my glasses, which I almost never do. Still, it was kind of really awkward but I don't feel too bad since he was the one making a fool out of himself and not me.

The bookstore is an apparent treasure trove of stuff that is super awesome but probably completely useless. Case in point - there was a beginner's cake decorating box set on the sale shelf that I would totally get if I wasn't so incredibly stingy. Then again, it was half-price and a complete guidebook and box set...Anyway, after I marveled over the cake set I turned to leave and lo and behold - there's a FTA Mr. Potato Head football player right in front of me and he's for sale too! Luckily, I wouldn't spend an extra penny unless someone that I know really well was dying (ok, I'm just kidding about that) or else that smorgasbord of Sarah-pleasers would have marked the end of my precious savings account.
